It has become somewhat of a family tradition over the years to go in search of the perfect Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving. Mimi and Grampy Denno are usually in town to join us for the family outing and this has become something that we look forward to each year. Although we know that Mimi and Grampy will not always be close enough to join us each year, we feel fortunate that they have been a part of this tradition from the beginning!
Once home and the tree is brought in, we eat a nice warm dinner, enjoy some hot cocoa (Ellie's favorite... with marshmallows!) and unwrap the manger scene, which was made and painted by Adam's mom (Mimi) in 1980. A Denno family tradition since Adam was a young child, was to have each person carefully choose and unwrap a manger piece one at a time, and whoever unwraps the baby Jesus is deemed to have good luck for the year. The last two years in a row Ellie has unwrapped the baby Jesus! And Olivia, for her first manger unveiling, unwrapped the beautiful angel, which we thought was perfectly fitting for our little angel!

"Christmas Mermaid"
I am not sure if Momma will get to have her stocking filled by Santa this year, as Ellie likes to play a new game she calls "Christmas Mermaid". This usually involves Ellie taking off any pants, leggings, tights, etc. (because they make it too hard to stick into the stocking) and wearing my stocking as a mermaid tail.

| Then, her imaginary friend (or bug who she catches in her hand), Ladybug, usually joins her in the water (Olivia's play mat, or play map as Ellie calls it) to swim and flap around :) |
